In the Kitchen in Flu Season March 12 2020

Frequent hand washing, sanitization, and personal hygiene are all routine in our kitchen as part of a safe and healthy food service operation.

Due to the flu season and now coronavirus concerns, we are especially aware of these practices and are now sanitizing all our door handles, iPad checkout screens, delivery vehicles and more regularly throughout the pick up days.

We rarely have more than one to two people in the front of the kitchen at a time, and this is manageable to stay on top of.

One of the best defenses in flu season is maintaining general health, starting with what you eat, lowering stress levels, getting exercise and 7 to 8 hours of sleep.

Ditching the simple sugar (raw unfiltered honey however, in moderation can be helpful as it is antiviral and antimicrobial) and eating a nutritious diet can do wonders. 

We've included foods with lots of herbs and spices this menu including antiviral powerhouses garlic and ginger,  plus a Chimichurri Sauce just packed with herbs, lemon and apple cider vinegar to help support overall health.

Another way to help health and your immune system is reduce anxiety and stress as much as possible. To that end, keeping informed about the coronavirus through non-fear based media can be helpful.

What You Can Do about Coronavirus by Dr. Matt Reddy

First, take a deep breath and trust your body and immune system. Being fearful won't help at all. Remember, the media's job is to get you to view their content and the best way to get you to do that is through fear.

Turn off the news and get off social media. Seriously. I know it may be challenging because we all want to know what's going on, but there's a point where being informed shifts into becoming obsessed and fearful. Please find that balance.

There are daily things you can be doing to help keep yourself healthy.

  • Proactively, washing your hands frequently with warm soapy water for at least 30 seconds is one of the best things you can do for yourself.
  • Avoid touching your face and stay hydrated.
  • Being mindful of your diet also helps - eat lots of colorful fruits and vegetables, load up on antiviral foods and spices such as raw garlic, oregano, ginger, and kimchi and avoid simple sugars and junk food.
  • Fresh air and moderate exercise each day as well as getting adequate sleep can do wonders for your immune system as can working to reduce and manage your stress levels.
  • Additionally, taking Vitamin C (1,000 - 2,000 mg daily), Vitamin D3K2 (5,000-10,000 IU), and Quinton Isotonic (1 ampoule daily) are going to support your immune system like no other!
  • And if you do get sick, stay home! Please.
